This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my students is their personalities. Every single one of them brings something different to the room. Some are goofy, some are quiet, some are still figuring themselves out, but they all show up, and that matters to me. I love that they keep it real with me, and I do the same for them. They’ve been through a lot, and sometimes school is the only place where they feel seen, safe, or even just like themselves.

This project isn’t just about getting a Nintendo Switch.

It’s about bringing joy back into the classroom. Having the Switch, extra controllers, and games gives us a way to reset, connect, and celebrate. I plan to use it as a reward system, a community-builder, and a way to get students excited to be in class. Whether it’s Friday game time, a “you earned it” moment, or just something to look forward to during a tough week, this setup gives my students something positive to work toward. Sometimes, a little fun goes a long way in helping them show up, stay motivated, and feel like they belong.
