This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The inequity in sports between boys and girls is most evident in softball. The budgets allowed by school districts are minimal, and most schools are able to make up for that with booster clubs and outside donations. Our kids do not have that luxury.
The things we need, namely socks, are things that most teams have in abundance; we continue to reuse uniform socks out of necessity.
Our girls want to learn to play. At the moment, the equipment we have will not allow that learning efficiently. Your purchase will give them something to be proud of, allow us to practice, and help them improve.
Game and practice socks are not the most expensive part of the sport, but among the most essential. At the moment we are reusing socks from seasons past and they are falling apart. Our budget does not allow for new ones every year. The opportunity to suit up, learn and improve as athletes and as young women cannot happen without ample equipment, even something as simple as socks. For most, those things are a given. For us, it's a gift.
