My Project

The "Swing Into Inclusion" project at Glasgow Elementary aims to design and install an accessible swing set that will provide children of all abilities with the opportunity to engage in sensory and physical play. Many students in this low-income, minority community lack access to inclusive recreational spaces that accommodate diverse needs. By building a swing set that is accessible to children with physical disabilities and sensory challenges, this project will create a more equitable and inclusive environment for all students.

The swing set will offer a sensory experience for children with autism or other sensory processing needs, while also providing physical benefits for students with mobility challenges, allowing them to engage in play alongside their peers.

The project will foster a sense of community by bringing together children from different backgrounds and abilities, helping to break down social barriers and promote empathy.

At Glasgow Elementary, where access to quality recreational spaces is limited, this project will offer a safe, fun, and therapeutic space for students to grow physically, emotionally, and socially. The swing set will allow children from minority backgrounds to experience the joy of play and inclusion, helping to build confidence and social skills. By ensuring that all students, regardless of ability or background, can participate, this project will contribute to a more inclusive and supportive school community for everyone.
