These supplies will allow our students to run a profitable concession stand. We are reaching the point where we will have paid off our machinery costs and we will be profitable!
Many students work at our concession stand in order to raise money for their 8th grade class trip to Washington DC and New York City.
The trip is nearly $3,000 and students need ways to make money. Traditional work opportunities are pretty limited for 13-14 year olds.
Over the years, I have found that students who are a part of the fundraising process are far more invested in the outcome. When parents just pay for it, the kids don't appreciate it nearly as much as they should. It also helps them understand the value of money. On their trip, they might see a sweatshirt that they want. If their parents were to just pay for it, they won't appreciate it as much as if they pay for it themselves. A $40 shirt looks different if it took you 3 hours of work to earn it.
These funds, raised through the concessions, help students become a more well-rounded individual. If I can instill a sense of the value of money while helping them attend this trip, then it's a win-win! Thank you for your consideration!
