My Students
My students are all from the inner city. We are a Title I school that only serves girls. We are the first all-female school in our public school system. My girls are hardworking, dedicated and determined young ladies who always rise above all the naysayers. Our school provides a rigorous education that is needed in today's society. We are an academically focused school that will show everyone that we have beauty and brains. She believed she could, so she did!
My Project
Our students come from an urban community where 100% of them receive free breakfast, lunch, and snacks. When they come to school, sometimes they do not have the appropriate attire and we have to send them down to the uniform closet. This can be embarrassing, as well as impeding their learning.
With this donation of sweaters, my students will have school-appropriate sweaters to wear on the cold days without having to change their clothes.
I think that this would benefit my students in more ways than one! They wouldn't have to be embarrassed about changing their clothes and they would be warm enough so they can be ready to learn.
