My Project

When teenagers learn how to cook, they increase their likelihood of developing and maintaining healthy eating habits throughout their lives. Cooking also boosts self-esteem, increases confidence, and provides valuable practice in cooperation.

The goal is for my students gain the skills needed to live well and independently, and having the right tools to practice these skills is a key part of the process.

Additionally, we want to enjoy the food we make, and buying disposable plates, cups, and utensils is both wasteful and expensive. By using reusable plates, cups, bowls, and placemats, we can practice essential life skills like setting the table, portioning meals, and managing clean-up. Having a dish rack for drying encourages responsibility and organization, as students learn how to care for their tools and keep their space tidy. These everyday tasks contribute to developing the independence and self-sufficiency necessary to thrive in adulthood.
