Help me give my students hands-on experience practicing geometry, mathematical skills, collaboration, and sustainability through the creation of raised garden beds for the classroom.
Our class is the heartbeat of our school. Our Montessori classroom thrives with real-life application of knowledge, with an emphasis on being of service to our community. Our students strive for excellence through the pursuit of truth, beauty, and goodness and have an innate love for nature as well as the preservation of nature. Over the last two years, our experiences have been limited with COVID regulations both inside and outside the classroom. We have found ways to continue to uphold our ideals with flexible and creative problems solving solutions, but we are ready to be back out in our community. Our class believes in the beauty of the natural world, education for all, and uplifting the goodness of the world. We are excited to propose this project for our school campus.
We aim to help heal our campus through sustainability with a focus on gardening.
These efforts are made to connect classmates through hands-on and research experiences such as plant research, garden soil area coverage, drip line creations, and more. Our larger goals are to create vegetable gardens to serve as community food and a butterfly way station to continue pollination here in the SW desert. We also recognize the community-building opportunities this gives our students, with positive problem solving and communication needed to bring these projects to life. We hope that our project will be approved and that our dreams of beauty, sustainability, teamwork, and math can come to life.
