This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
No one should ever feel scared or apprehensive about venturing into the real world. For this reason, I want my students to be able to independently navigate their environment safely.
I teach adolescent individuals with severe disabilities in middle school serving low income families.
Students with severe disabilities often have limited abilities to experience real-life situations involving safety and safety measures that they will experience in real-world situations.
My Project
Through the curriculum, I will teach my students the signs associated with the correct survival skills. The games will enhance their understanding of survival signs by making learning fun, while the worksheets will be used as assessment. My students will use real-life applications weekly through our curriculum base instruction (CBIs) to gain more understanding of safety and survival techniques. In the end, the goal is for my students to navigate independently in any real-life situation without experiencing the overwhelming desire to retreat.
Your help will ensure that these tools will help my students to move about the every day world more easily and securely.
This will change the lives of my students by helping them become more independent and active members of our society.
