This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Have you ever wanted a say in what activities you participated in after school hours? This year for the first time ever, we surveyed our students asking for their input and ideas on their favorite afterschool classes.
The buzz around school was amazing to hear as students were coming together to brainstorm different club ideas.
We had almost 350 student responses from our survey and about half selected that the LEGO Builders Club was a fan favorite!
The staff had access to the survey results and saw the overwhelming amount of interest in the LEGO Building Club so many staff members have volunteered to host this club afterschool. Our students need LEGO brick sets and LEGO people so they can explore the world of STEM and share their stories through LEGO bricks! Lysol spray is also needed so we can make sure all LEGO bricks are sanitary for each group of students.
Our students also need crocheting items such as hooks and yarn for a Beginning Crocheting Club. Students are excited to help bring this delicate art to life. As a lifelong skill students will make beautiful gifts for others and clothing items that can be worn.
Lastly, students need basketballs and table games to help promote teamwork and friendship-building. These clubs will help students enjoy playing together and socializing after school hours.
