This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the sole Surgical Technology and Central Sterilization Programs in Miami-Dade County Public Schools/Technical College System, we immerse the students in Basic Health Care Worker responsibilities, Nursing Assisting, Phlebotomy, Decontamination & Sterilization Procedures of Instrumentation, Evisceration procedures, Surgical Techniques & Infection Control and Prevention, and Forensic Pathology. We provide an understanding of various science disciplines, expose them to the technology of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery, and explain the engineering components of gas-powered systems, electricity, ultrasonic waves, lasers, and much more. We provide real-life training and simulations for our students to help them practice skills before entering the Clinical world where they are exposed to “real” patients. We are always in need of supplies to teach our students the fundamentals of each of the 11 Body Systems as they assist surgeons and use instrumentation that caters to each of those systems. Donations will create class sets of supplies to help students individually master Aseptic/Sterile Techniques and reinforce the practice of therapeutic touch the medical field.

Our students are the future of healthcare.

We need to invest in their education so that they will be intentional about providing exceptional patient care for all of us!
