My technology students LOVE flexible seating. During the pandemic and virtual school, my students became accustomed to choosing a comfortable place to complete their work. Since returning to the building, I have started to build an array of flexible seating options for my classroom to allow students to work where they feel most comfortable. This choice allows them to focus on instruction and completing their assigned tasks. When students are sitting on the floor, it is hard for them to use their Chromebooks comfortably and correctly, which is my biggest concern with flexible seating during Technology class.
Surf desks for our classroom will allow for more students to complete their assignments comfortably on their Chromebooks while sitting on the floor in a location that works best for them.
Every student in my school spends 30 minutes to an hour in technology class each week. If this project is funded, then students in every class in the building will have the option to choose a surf desk during their work time each week.
