Students at our North Carolina public elementary school come from diverse cultures and backgrounds. The majority of our students, an average of 67%, received free or reduced-price lunch last year.
The students will be using the carpet to gather together for partner work and also fun activities throughout the day.
The whiteboards are going to be used for the students to be able to play games and also to show their work in a different style of learning.
The children we teach come from very different backgrounds which means students come to our school with varying levels of prior knowledge and skills – knowledge and skills that serve as the foundation of academic achievements.
We have the privilege of teaching between 90-100 Kindergarteners every year and their diversity and needs mirror our school averages.
The students in my classroom come to me with varying backgrounds such as military and low-income at-risk kids with varying levels of prior knowledge, skills, and needs.
