I work at an an elementary school in North Miami. My school is rated as a Title I school, and 99% of students receive free or reduced-price lunch throughout the school year. Most students come from a bilingual home, and their primary home language is not English.
My students are sweet and funny, and they make it a pleasure to come to work on a daily basis.
All of them are on the autism spectrum, and they have speech and language impairments as well as emotional and sensory deficits. They come to school each day excited and pumped for learning. It is truly a great feeling to see them blossom on a daily basis as they try to achieve their learning goals.
My Project
We use a variety of reading and math programs in our class. These programs help provide instruction at each student's individual levels. We use student-centered activities that allow students to take control of their learning. The students are very engaged when they use technology and this engagement increases their learning.
Integrating technology into the classroom is an effective way to connect with students of all learning styles.
A Microsoft Surface Go will improve my students' learning by providing them access to a variety of digital reading and writing resources. This technology will make learning more appealing to my students and will boost their creativity.
