Help me give my students a comfortable way to work together on their computers. With the portable lap desks, students will be able to sit close to a neighbor to collaborate on computer projects!
We are a K-6 school in the suburbs outside of Salt Lake City, UT. While we have a great community with super supportive parents, 30% of our students are economically disadvantaged.
Our fourth grade is a large and diverse group of learners!
Students' reading and math abilities range from kindergarten through high school. As their teachers, we make it a point to help EVERY student make progress throughout the year!
The teachers at our school have made a serious commitment to helping all of our kids reach proficient levels in reading and math. Despite this, less than 45% of my students entered the year meeting those proficiency levels from third grade.
As we've worked with these students, we've learned that they all want to learn! Previously, many have struggled when it took them longer to grasp a new concept when all they really needed was extra practice. In contrast, many of the more advanced students need to be challenged because the material is too easy for them. Help ALL of our students learn THEIR own way!
My Project
"Time to work with your partner!" calls the teacher. These words are a signal to students everywhere to look for their best buddy to team up with. But how does a teacher insure students are really working closely? These portable lap desks are key!
Each pair of students can sit closely together with the lap desk to share one of our class ChromeBooks.
By pairing up to complete projects, students learn more as they have to explain their ideas with one another and compromise to complete a single project. These portable lap desks will make the process physically more comfortable!
