My Project
Hello! I teach 8th-grade English language arts and reading at a Title I school. I knew very early on that I wanted to be a teacher because I wanted to pass on my passion for literature and reading to the next generation. My students mostly live in an urban/industrial area near the school.
I know that a large number of them deal with a lot more day-to-day than the average kid.
For many of them, going to school is a reprieve.
I see my students work hard in my class day in and day out, regardless of what might be going on in their lives. Every small victory for them is a victory for me as well. It is an educator's job to give students the tools they need to succeed, and I take my job very seriously.
My 8th graders are something extraordinary. They are fiercely loyal, witty, funny, smart, and definitely drive me crazy at times, but there is truly no better group of kiddos. I want to give them every opportunity for success possible.
I have created this DonorsChoose to request bar sets for my classroom. My class sizes are rather large this year, and we have had to get creative with our seating arrangements. I would love to be able to get this office chair. It would allow for more flexible seating options in my classroom and would offer a far more comfortable alternative to the clunky desks that currently occupy my room.
