My Project
In our diverse and vibrant 4th grade classroom in Jersey City, many of my students face challenges that extend beyond academics. More than half of the students in our school qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and many come to school without consistent access to daily necessities like clean uniforms, personal hygiene supplies, and healthy snacks. These missing essentials can affect their comfort, focus, and self-esteem.
This project aims to create a Care Closet stocked with uniform components (such as leggings, polos, and sweatshirts), self-care and hygiene items (toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, lotion, hair care products, etc.), and nutritious snacks.
These resources will be available to any student who needs them, with dignity and discretion.
By supporting this project, you’re helping meet the most basic needs of children who are working hard to succeed. With fewer distractions and more confidence, they can focus on what really matters—learning, growing, and feeling good about themselves.
