My Students
All students learn differently. In my classroom, I celebrate different learners by working closely with students in small, differentiated groups throughout our day. Having an easel that can move from group to group would cut down on transition time and support the diverse needs of ALL students!
My students are eager, inquisitive third graders with big personalities and lots of excitement for learning!
They attend a small, regional school in Massachusetts. Like most elementary classrooms, they have a wide range of interests, strengths, and weaknesses. As a result, we spend a lot of time working in small, focused groups to address the diverse needs of ALL students, so that everyone is given the tools they need for knowledge and overall success.
My Project
The requested easel is more than classroom furniture, it will become a part of our daily routine and will foster deeper learning in ALL students. It will be primarily used during small group, differentiated instruction. I utilize small group instruction during EVERY subject block to make sure that students are challenging themselves and making progress toward individual goals. Having a mobile easel with storage will help us cut down on time spent transitioning because I will be able to bring the materials to the group, rather than the other way around! With less time spent on transitions, more time can be spent on deepening learning in the classroom. An easel with storage will also be helpful because all of the materials needed to support instruction, such as manipulatives, graphic organizers, and white boards can be wheeled right over to the group when I'm ready to work with them.
Think back to a time in elementary school when you did not understand something, you felt left behind, or even when you felt bored because you were not being challenged by the material.
This is exactly why we need this easel. Students on ALL levels will utilize this easel as an accessible tool to support learning. Please consider donating this easel to our classroom!
