This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students need to get down to the basics with good old-fashioned paper and markers while reinforcing their identity as we explore novels written by diverse authors! In this day and age of technology in the classroom, students need to get down to the basics with paper and markers as a part of their novel study projects.

Research shows that these types of hands-on activities activate student learning and gives them an opportunity to practice their dexterity, a skill that is on the decline due to the use of technology in the classroom.

In addition, the markers of various skin tones will be incredibly beneficial.

I serve an incredibly diverse population comprised of students with special needs, and these markers will definitely provide the solution to bring inclusivity and reinforce identity in the classroom. Furthermore, as schools tighten their budgets, paper is needed to print out IEPs for parents and the school.
