My Project

My Digital Media students constantly are designing and creating community-minded projects.

We have resigned logos, created maps, etc.

Currently, we are creating a logo for an inclusive playground in Palmer, designing license plates for the 2023 artist competition, and creating a label for ZIP Kombucha in Anchorage. My students are learning valuable skills in Adobe products (photoshop, premiere pro, and illustrator).

Digital artists use a Wacom tablet for their art - this includes, but is not limited to, photo editing, painting, color correction, graphic design, video editing, etcetera. At our high school, students learn how to use the programs - however, to fully simulate these work environments to prepare for the future this one critical tool is missing, the Wacom tablet.

Students are restricted from achieving because of the bottleneck of using a mouse for these applications. Mice were never designed to be pen-pointing devices. They are for point-and-click only. Drawing with a mouse result in sub-par products, much improved by a tablet. A tablet allows pen and paper accuracy, precision, and quality. A student put it best when he said " If you have ever drawn for over an hour straight it might hurt your hand, but drawing with a mouse can hurt more. It hurts because to do this you need to hold down the left-click button on your mouse which puts strain on your flexor digitorum profundus."
