Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have the privilege of supporting students from all walks of life as they navigate the pressures of academics, social challenges, and personal struggles. Many of the students I serve are experiencing high levels of anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm—often without access to the tools they need to cope effectively.
Through this DonorsChoose project, I am hoping to provide my students with sensory and self-regulation items such as mints, sour candy, fidget tools, and weighted stuffed animals to help manage anxiety and increase focus throughout the day.
These simple yet powerful tools can calm a racing mind or give students a moment of relief during overwhelming times.
Additionally, many students come to school without basic needs met. I am requesting hygiene products like deodorant, toiletries, along with healthy snacks for students who might not have eaten or who struggle with food insecurity. Meeting these basic needs allows students to focus on learning and feel more confident, cared for, and supported.
Every item requested is intended to reduce barriers and increase student readiness to learn, connect, and thrive. Your support will help create a safe, welcoming space where students feel seen and valued—not just as learners, but as whole people.
