This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a first-year Education Specialist, I have quickly realized the powerful impact that emotional check-ins can have on student learning. Starting each lesson with a brief check-in has made a noticeable difference in classroom culture—helping my students feel heard, seen, and supported. Meeting their emotional needs at the start of class helps prepare them for the academic content that follows.
I am requesting tools that will support and scaffold these emotional check-ins.
Ideally, this would include a timer feature to ensure the check-in process is quick and structured. These tools will allow my students to express how they are feeling in a safe, consistent way, while also helping me respond to their emotional needs in a timely manner. When students feel emotionally secure, they are more ready to engage with learning.
This request aligns with my goal of creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students—especially those who benefit from additional structure and emotional support.
