it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students today are navigating an increasingly stressful world, and many of them don't have access to tools that can help them manage anxiety, regulate their emotions, or connect to a deeper sense of self. To better support my students' emotional well-being, I want to participate in a virtual professional learning program that focuses on nervous system regulation, stress reduction, and emotional balance through creative and contemplative practices.
This course will equip me with research-informed strategies that integrate reflective journaling, guided meditation, and intentional creativity-based activities.
The goal is to help students develop emotional resilience, enhance self-awareness, and support nervous system balance—all essential skills for learning, growing, and succeeding in school and beyond.
I will turnkey what I’ve learned to my students throughout the school year. I plan to create a series of structured sessions in which students can slow down, express themselves, and build self-regulation skills through mindfulness and creativity. These sessions will offer a much-needed space for reflection, calm, and emotional grounding which is especially helpful for my seniors who will be preparing for college. Your support will not only help me grow as an educator but will also help give my students lifelong tools for self-care and reflection.
