My Project
These Items will make a difference in my student's education by giving them the tools and the space to de-escalate and get back into the classroom setting. The students will have the recourses to build coping skills that will serve them both inside and outside of the school setting. My students have an easier time expressing their emotions when they have something to fidget with or a sensory item.
My goals for this project are to offer a space where my students feel safe and comfortable, as well being able to offer the tools to build the emotional skills needed to find success in life.
I plan to use the journals in my room to help students work through the big feelings that they have throughout everyday life. Having journals on hand will give me the opportunity to extend these types of coping skills to students who are not able to go purchase a journal on their own. The rug and the bean bag chairs will be used for a more comfortable seating areas for talking or for a moment of peace and quiet if that is what my students need.
My students are special because they want to build emotional regulation and life skills. My students are eager to ask for help and willing to make changes in their life to move in a way they are proud of. My students are all individuals who accept each other for both their similarities and differences. My students often support each other in coming to talk to me if one of their peers is nervous to ask for help. With your help I am hopeful to be able to offer the tools to the students in my building to have the best year we have had yet!
