My Students
The number of students in need of flexible and non-traditional pathways through education is growing. With the development of a new trauma-informed flexible pathway in Addison County Vermont, students will be able to experience learning in unique and holistic ways.
By creating an environment that supports students' social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs, students are better able to engage in their learning.
Students who access this new pathway come for a variety of reasons. Sometimes traditional classrooms are too large, they might need extra support to build foundational skills, or the narrative of school they have written for themselves needs some re-writing with the love and support of dedicated teachers.
Our students want to be successful, but they face internal and external challenges that make being a student stressful and taxing. With the support of DonorsChoose, we will be able to equip our classrooms with a variety of hands-on tools that foster growth in our students.
My Project
When people struggle with the unknown, they are often filled with worry, doubt, and anxiety. As we enter back into our classrooms this fall, supporting students to feel safe in a world full of unknowns is a priority. At AWE, our pillars for learning are centered around supporting students to be available for learning, to feel worthy of positive relationships, and to be empowered to make their own choices. We don't often think that choosing a self-regulation strategy is challenging, but for students who experience anxiety and struggle with transitions, self-selecting tools to help them self-regulate can be empowering. The tools you will help supply for the students at AWE will give them this opportunity, which in turn will allow them to be more present in the classroom.
