Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am incredibly proud of the diverse and hardworking group of 1st-grade students I have the privilege of teaching. Many of my students are Hispanic or native English speakers learning Spanish, which creates a dynamic and vibrant classroom environment. Their eagerness to grow in both languages and cultures is truly inspiring. I am dedicated to creating an inclusive space where every student feels valued, respected, and motivated to not only learn but also spread kindness in our school and community.
This year, we are connecting our bilingual learning with a greater purpose: protecting and caring for the environment.
By incorporating environmental awareness into our daily routines, we are helping students understand how their actions can make a difference in the world around them. Whether it’s reusing materials, reducing waste, or showing kindness to nature, my goal is for each child to become an active and mindful citizen of our planet.
Each resource in this project supports both academic success and environmental responsibility. The chair pockets will help students stay organized and reduce paper clutter, encouraging responsibility and care for their learning tools. The book bins will house bilingual books, many with themes of nature, conservation, and global citizenship, helping to build literacy and environmental awareness. The write-and-wipe boards promote sustainable learning by replacing paper worksheets, offering students a reusable way to practice essential math and language skills in both English and Spanish.
This project is also part of a broader community kindness initiative, where students will engage in classroom activities and schoolwide efforts that support both people and the planet. With your support, these materials will help create an environment where students are empowered to care for themselves, each other, and the Earth.
