This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students entering middle school should be fluent readers, but not all are! Some students struggle in reading. A student who struggles in reading will struggle in other subject areas.

Some middle schoolers lack foundational skills, such as simple decoding and phonemic awareness to be able to read fluently.

Some struggle with comprehension due to the lack of vocabulary.

There are a lot of resources to learn phonics at the elementary level, but not a lot at the middle school level. My students need age-appropriate resources to increase their reading fluency and comprehension.
