This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach an amazing group of autistic and intellectually disabled students who thrive with hands-on, movement-based learning. They are bright, curious, and full of energy, and I love watching them light up when they’re engaged in activities that let them move their bodies while learning important life skills.
Many of my students benefit from sensory input and structured movement breaks throughout the day to help with focus, emotional regulation, and motor planning—key supports for neurodiverse learners.
The yoga mats will provide personal space for stretching and calming activities. Exercise balls will support core strength and balance while also being a great tool for seated movement. Hula hoops will allow us to work on coordination, spatial awareness, and fun physical games. The foam workout dice will let us make movement into a playful, collaborative activity that builds physical skills and classroom community.
These resources will give my students new ways to move, regulate, and grow—both physically and emotionally. With your help, we can make our classroom a place where every learner has the tools they need to feel strong, focused, and successful.
