Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As I begin working with students who are bright, curious, and eager to connect, but many of whom are on the autism spectrum and need targeted support to thrive socially and emotionally, I am seeking the tools and support they need to overcome challenges with sensory regulation and social interactions, which can impact their learning and confidence. That’s why I’m requesting sensory tools and resources that will help them feel calm, focused, and ready to engage with their peers. Items in my cart include fidget tools, sensory bins, calming visuals, and materials for structured social games. These tools will create a more inclusive and supportive environment where my students can practice social skills, manage sensory input, and build meaningful connections. I will also build foundational language skills through engaging, research-based vocabulary activities. These tools align with the science of reading and will allow me to explicitly teach high-utility words in a way that is visual, repetitive, and accessible—perfect for young learners who benefit from structure and multi-sensory input. This resource will help my students develop the vocabulary they need to express themselves, understand stories and instructions, and participate in social conversations with more confidence.
