My Project
During the pandemic our children missed out on a lot of social interaction. My hope is that by explicitly teaching students to be self-aware by listening to their bodies, recognizing cues for stress and anxiety, and teaching breathing and coping strategies that my students will be able to self regulate their feelings & emotions.Social and emotional learning is defined as “the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success.”
Picture books to help students add tools self-regulation tools to their toolboxes.
These picture books will allow me to integrate social and emotional learning in with academic instruction by teaching the elements of literature while explicitly teaching students SEL how to show kindness, acceptance of others, self regulate their own feelings, etc.
