My Students
As a teacher in a preschool room in a low-income school district, my students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges that my students are facing, I strive to provide them with a fun, interactive, safe, and meaningful learning environment. As their teacher I try to instill the importance of communicating/listening to one another, being a good citizen and leader, and using trauma-informed techniques to aid them in their social-emotional development.
My students have various learning styles, backgrounds and needs.
Due to being located in an inner-city, funding is extremely hard to come by, and in order to provide my students with the best learning experiences I can give them, I typically find ways to procure these items and experiences out of pocket or by any means I can - which is where DonorsChoose comes in.
My Project
This project will begin creating an exploration station for science and STEM inside the classroom.
My students are scientists in training - they love exploring things that they find outside and are curious about the world around them and what makes it work.
Our current classroom is limited to just a few small magnifying classes and a balance scale to go beyond using their 5 senses when exploring new materials in the classroom.
By creating a science station inside the classroom, students will be able to utilize items they find and items brought to the classroom and explore them further by using magnifying glasses, exploration boxes, and more to get a better look at how the world around them works - just like real scientists do!
I would love to help build a science center inside of my classroom and further my students' curiosity and foster their love for science!
