Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Second grade is an important time, where students are beginning to mature and grow more in their learning environment. My students will be taking on the task of learning and understanding the skills needed for college and career readiness, but will need additional resources to help them get there.
My second grade students will be part of an ICT, or Integrated Co-Teaching, class, which is part of the NYC public school system.
They live in a high poverty, multicultural community, and the majority of them live in shelters and come from low income families. Our class consists of two teachers - one general education teacher and one special education teacher, and a wonderful group of smiling, new 2nd graders.
My Project
Our class needs help getting supplies to help jump start our literacy center. I have requested resources to help engage my students in reinforcing their literacy skills through center activities, and creating a reading corner for independent/partnership reading.
Resources for learning are very limited both at home, and in most cases, at school too.
Your generous donation will help my students get a start on a successful year by helping them get some of the necessary materials that will help encourage independence and growth in literacy.
