Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a variety of cultures, low-income families, and hard-working middle class families, which therefore results in plenty of hardships for them daily. This being said though, they are incredibly resilient. They are dedicated students with wonderful attitudes, despite their disadvantages. The struggles they overcome are more than many adults can handle, but they do so with a smile on their faces.
My Project
I believe that students learn and master skills when they are able to explore, investigate and connect to the real world. This year we have been able to do a few STEAM projects and they have really benefited from the hands-on experiences and extensions.
I would love to create a space where students will have the capability to go and create various things to further extend their learning by either building, creating or exploring using a variety of materials.
In order for this idea to come to life, we need a variety of STEAM materials that we do not have as well as containers to keep materials organized. My students are excited for the potential that this space will create. With these K'Nex, building blocks, pom-poms, piper cleaners, hot glue and more, students will able to have materials in an organized space so that they can create items such as bridges, balloon or rubber band cars, chain reactions, various circuits and other structures. The possibilities can be great with your help!
