Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Writing is such an important skill for students. We focus on opinion writing during the course of the year and reference texts to help support our opinion and to make our opinion strong.
One unit we do in class, uses the book Who Would Win?
I read the book aloud and students will take notes comparing the two animals, Killer Whale and Great White Shark. The notes they take will help them form an opinion to the question, Who Would Win?
In the past, the teacher is the only person who has the book, which makes it difficult for students to refer back to the text. I would like each student to have their own copy of the book, so they can follow along as I read aloud and to be able to reference back to facts for their writing.
