Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a speech and language therapist who works with students from 3K up to 5th grade. Communication is vital to an improved quality of life and expressing out daily wants and needs. Most of my students are non-verbal communicators and communicate using echolalia (meaningless repetition of another person's spoken words), known as gestalt language processors. Being unable to effectively communicate is a very frustrating experience for students and families. Hence, I want to empower my students with a voice, a medium to communicate and express themselves.
These courses and resource will help me provide my students with effective intervention to help them communicate.
This can be achieved as I better understand the difference between analytic and gestalt language processors, understand the Natural Language Acquisition Framework (NLA), and develop action plans for effective intervention.
Thank you for helping me help my students with special needs!
