Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an ELD counselor for Newcomer students, I am requesting supplies to create a welcoming and comfortable space where my students can feel at ease. These students face unique challenges, including family separation, navigating immigration status, homelessness, and migration trauma, which can lead to feelings of isolation. My goal is to foster a sense of belonging and provide tools for their academic and personal success.

The items on my project list will help create a cozy, inviting space they’ll enjoy visiting, supporting their journey toward feeling at home.

A couch, throw pillows, and blanket will create a relaxing nook for them, while games and stuffed animals will offer comfort to students in crisis.

My students love enjoying tasty snacks that they might not have access to at home. I keep my cupboard stocked and love seeing their eyes light up when I offer them something special.
