Our integrated co-teaching pre-k classroom is full of amazing, inquisitive 2 through 5 year olds of varying needs and backgrounds. My students come from diverse backgrounds all over Queens, NY and in a normal year, they are arriving to school with many needs such as sensory, language, emotional, physical, and intellectual supports. However, this year we are all navigating the murky waters of this pandemic and trying to stick together and find the brightness and love in each day and in each other. We are a true classroom family.
For my students, pre-k will be their first experience in the classroom, and I want them to be as comfortable as possible and be independent in a happy and supportive environment.
My Project
Help me support our youngest learners with disabilities through the pandemic through stories and strong visual aids. This year, we have noticed our students are really struggling to feel confidence in themselves and feel positive when they think of themselves. I would like to purchase a set of books on mindfulness, a set of books on inclusion (as this is a class of mixed abilities), and a cricut cutting machine to make strong classroom visual aids to support students who need visual supports through the remainder of the school year.
