it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love most about our students is their resilience. Despite facing trauma, abuse, displacement, and emotional or behavioral challenges, they show up with hope and a desire for a better future. These resources will provide calming, supportive spaces where students can de-escalate, regulate their emotions, and return to learning ready to engage. For students with ADHD, ODD, or mood instability, having a dedicated area for mental health support is essential. It helps them refocus, feel safe, and build the skills they need to succeed academically and emotionally.
The specific items in this project—such as flexible seating, sensory tools, calming visuals, and mindfulness materials—will create safe, soothing environments where students can take a break, manage their emotions, and return to class more focused and ready to learn.
These spaces will directly support emotional regulation and reduce classroom disruptions, helping students remain engaged in their academics. My goal is to build areas that not only meet their mental health needs but also empower them with coping strategies they can use throughout their lives. What makes our students truly special is their courage and perseverance. Despite overwhelming odds, they continue to show up, strive for progress, and work toward brighter futures. This project is about honoring that spirit and giving them the supportive environment they deserve.
