Help me give my students a guitar, a bean bag chair, games, and a rug for a safe space during a hard time managing their mental health in my office. Also help me give my students confidence by having a colorful positive quotes make over of their bathrooms.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I want to be able to provide a safe, comfortable environment for any student in distress in my office space by providing safe and positive objects that can help calm and recenter a student. Often times offices can feel intimidating and as a school counselor, it’s important to make it comfortable and safe in order to support the therapeutic relationship with the student. Providing tools such as art, music, games, fidget toys, or a comfortable place to sit can help a student feel safe enough to begin to share and de-escalate. I also want to do a bathroom makeover by providing a colorful positive experience of positive quotes and art work in the students' bathroom. This will help build confidence and self esteem. It will allow student to take pride in themselves and their shared spaces.
