My Project
These products will allow students the space to aptly support their mental health and their emotional well-being. Curating a dedicated space in my classroom that offers students the opportunity to process their internal challenges will support their well-being and offer a greater sense of care within my classroom. Having these breathing tools, journals, and fidgets will allow students to engage in various strategies to ensure students can process whatever it is they're facing.
Mental health matters and so do my students.
The cushions for seating that I've requested will provide a cozy space, away from the rest of students and normal academic dynamic of a science classroom. My hope is that this corner will be a sanctuary within our large high school, giving students additional access to mental health support. My students come from various backgrounds, working jobs after school to support their parents/families, babysitting siblings overnight, being kicked out of their house, not having a home-- not to mention all the internal challenges that come with being a high school student and finding oneself.
