My Project
My 3rd graders are some of the most resilient kids I know. Many of them have already faced challenges no child should have to go through. That’s why creating a classroom where they feel safe, supported, and seen is so important to me. This project focuses on building our social-emotional learning (SEL) skills while also meeting some of our basic classroom needs.
With Creative SEL, I’ll have a go-to resource for hands-on projects that help kids explore emotions, relationships, and mindfulness in fun, age-appropriate ways.
The A Little SPOT of Feelings plush set will give students an engaging way to talk about big feelings. These little characters will live in our calming corner and help students self-regulate throughout the day.
To support SEL expression through creativity, I’m also requesting a set of Mr. Sketch scented markers. These colorful tools are perfect for emotion journals, posters, and artwork tied to our SEL lessons—and let’s be honest, the fun smells bring smiles even on tough days.
Additionally, I’m requesting magnetic acrylic book shelves for our whiteboard to highlight daily SEL books or emotion-focused prompts, making them easy for all to see. Finally, our classroom goes through a lot of pencils, and a bulk supply ensures that every student always has what they need—because nothing should stand in the way of learning, especially not a missing pencil.
