Help me give my students flexible seating options that support their success! The Donut Exercise Balls, Chair Bands and Core Balance Discs provide for movement while also preventing distractions.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Hays's classroom raised $200

My Students
I teach gifted and talent groups at a school where 97% of our students are classified as being on free or reduced lunch. We are a Title I school and proud to be creatively meeting the needs of our students daily. Between my 16 gifted students and numerous talent students per grade level, we've been trying to support our learning though movement and finding spaces that help us be productive and successful.
I've been able to incorporate some flexible seating and sensory supports so far but could use your help in truly developing an environment that supports individuals and their unique needs.
We know that choice, movement and collaboration are all important aspects in the modern classroom that prepares students for an ever changing world and workplace. We also know that these aspects help our students become future leaders and participants of a productive society where they have the required 21st century skills to thrive.
My Project
My students are learning how to be advocates for themselves and their needs while also learning how to make choices that fuel their success. Flexible seating provides options that cater to their diverse needs and provides an opportunity to have choice and control. Students then can connect their choices to their performance, success and results - thus helping them learn how to regulate their body and brain connections.
I've been slowly collecting and designing flexible seating options for my students but Covid-19 halted this from being fully realized - I hope that with your help, this year can be different.
The Kick Bands will help modify regular chairs so that students can move their legs without making noise as they can now kick on the band instead of another chair. The Balance Discs can both be used on the floor and in chairs. When in use, they allow students to wobble safely in their seat and channel their physical energy in a safe way. The Donut Balls can be used on the floor with clipboards and lap desks. They provide a different height than all the other elements and can be sat on in a variety of safe fashions.
Our classroom is diverse and just as we differentiate our learning, we want to differentiate our seating in order to meet all the needs of our unique learners.
