My Project
I teach an incredible group of young learners in a special education classroom, many of whom have autism and other unique needs. My students are bright, curious, and full of potential, but they also face challenges that can impact their ability to focus and learn. Meeting their basic needs—like staying clean, feeling comfortable, and having access to healthy snacks—helps create a stable and supportive environment where they can thrive.
The baby wipes will allow my students to stay fresh and comfortable throughout the day, especially those with sensory sensitivities who may struggle with hygiene routines.
Nutritious snacks will help keep their energy up and provide sensory-friendly food options that ensure they can focus on learning instead of hunger. Weather-appropriate clothing, like rain jackets, will ensure they are warm and protected during outdoor activities, recess, and transitions to and from school.
My goal with this project is to remove barriers to learning by addressing my students' fundamental needs. When they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for, they are more engaged and ready to participate. My students are special because they each bring unique strengths and perspectives to our classroom. With the right support, they can overcome challenges and achieve amazing things!
