Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are creative, curious, and full of energy. They come from diverse backgrounds and bring a variety of strengths to our classroom. Many face challenges outside of school, so I strive to make our learning environment as welcoming, engaging, and supportive as possible.

Creating a strong classroom culture is essential to helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

I use a classroom economy system to teach real-world skills like responsibility, saving, and goal setting. Students can earn classroom dollars for positive behavior, hard work, and participation — and spend them on fun incentives, snacks, books, or classroom privileges.

With this project, I’m asking for support in several key areas to help keep our classroom thriving. First, I’d love to provide new, engaging books for our classroom library, books that reflect my students’ interests, identities, and cultures, and that will help ignite a love of reading. I’m also requesting basic classroom supplies like art materials, student journals, and printer ink, which are essential for creative projects, daily writing, and toner for printing materials for learning.

To support student well-being and focus, I’d like to keep a steady supply of snacks available in the classroom, especially for students who may come to school without breakfast or need a boost to get through the day.

Finally, I’m requesting a mini fridge to store student snacks and small treats. Having access to a fridge means we can offer healthy options like fruit cups, yogurt, or cold drinks, and even store special reward items like popsicles or lunch prizes for classroom celebrations. It would be a game-changer for making sure students feel cared for and supported in every way possible.
