Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These supplies will help ensure my second graders begin the new school year feeling supported and excited as well as continue to support them throughout the year. The STEM materials will allow my students to have a soft start to their morning when they enter our classroom. The sensory, calm down, and inclusive resources will also help my students feel supported throughout the year in so many ways by allowing them a space to regulate their emotions to choosing a bandaid that matches their skin. The materials such as the pocket chart will help keep these stem and sensory materials organized.
Soft starts offer a bridge between the whirlwind of arriving to school and the social, mental, and academic demands of the day.
We give students the opportunity to transition to a school environment and build community with their peers. It offers a welcome into the school day that an expectation of silence and morning work do not.
