Help me give my students an opportunity to create images with high quality equipment like these Canon cameras. My middle school students are craving access to professional "fancy" equipment!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For many of my students, it's their first time creating a meaningful photograph image that is not a selfie! It's their first time looking at and analyzing other photographs, the first time they've met a professional photographer who looks like them, and the first time they've had to control a piece of professional photographic equipment. It is a transformative experience for all of us! From the classroom to the street to their homes, my photography students see their world in a new way, and we are so lucky they share their images with us!
This Canon Rebel camera will help our young photographers make more beautiful and powerful images.
Often, our young photographers must use their phones or older, lower quality cameras. This is not terrible, but it makes a HUGE difference in their understanding of photographic principles like exposure when they have access to higher quality DSLR cameras like the Canon Rebel. The quality of their images increases as well as their experience telling their own powerful visual stories.
