My Project

By donating to the project, students will increase their ability to positively cope with their mental health challenges. The students will feel supported and understand that it is okay to share how they are really doing while at school. By wearing the t-shirt/sweatshirt that is requested, the students will be reminded that their mental health matters and that at least one person in the building is there for them and wants to ask and know the true answer to the question, "How are you really doing?". The dog bandana will serve as another reminder to students that "We don't walk alone." Students need to know that they can ask for help and share their feelings with a trusted adult and/or spend time petting a therapy dog. In addition, the books and learning materials with be resources that can be used in sessions to teach students how to cope with mental health challenges. The fidgets, timers, and other manipulates will allow students to use a variety of strategies and tools with or without adult support. This will allow them the ability to cope with mental health challenges and stay in class or return to class in a timely manner so they can learn.
