My Students

Our school is a school within a school that identifies and serves middle school, gifted learners in our district. We are a Title I school in the heart of Tempe, Arizona serving the unique needs of the gifted learner. Our students help develop the Project Based Learning electives (PBL's) and before and after school clubs based on their interests. Several students are twice exceptional and we pride ourselves on meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of our diverse learners.

These students are creators, inventors, critical thinkers, and shapers of the future.

Our students students participate in project-based learning, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), and gifted strategies that meet academic needs as well as spatial, quantitative, verbal, aural, and kinesthetic learning styles.

My Project

Middle school students are engaged with social justice issues. Help 8th graders practice reading and writing skills studying topics related to criminal justice, poverty, civil rights, overcoming adversity, and career choices to develop critical thinking, analysis, debate, and research skills.

Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson is adapted for the young reader's experience.

Students will develop curiousity about social justice issues, learn to question, research, and think about the world in which they live. Help students support opinions with facts and propose solutions to problems they may one day be asked to solve. Gifted students tend to focus on fairness and this book will give them an opportunity to respond and research questions. Help support social and emotional learning as well as reading and writing.
