it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are very sweet kids but they have a lot going on in their lives. For some students, they have ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences), for others, they are just trying to do their best as they grow up in this crazy world. Either way, life can be very challenging and that makes learning at school even more difficult. That's why I would like to create a self-care station in my classroom to help students feel they can prioritize their mental health. Mental health is health, and I want my students to know that their well-being matters in my classroom.
My students voted on what they thought would be useful for their self-care station.
This included fidget activities when they feel wound up (poppers and stress balls), aromatherapy items (diffuser and essential oils), inspirational art on the walls (posters), pictures of their pets (hanging photo display), anonymous kindness notes (suggestion box), calming sounds (tabletop water fountain), plants (succulents), and stickers.
