Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 8th Grade U.S. History in an arts and technology magnet program. We are housed in a large, urban, Title I middle school with a limited budget and aging facilities.
My students are gifted, highly-engaged, creative thinkers who love to imagine, collaborate, and create.
They are a diverse group of middle school students who hail from a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
As a teacher, I am responsible for creating a curriculum which is both challenging and engaging. My goal with any project is to invest students with the tools they need to improve literacy and critical thinking skills through the use of primary and secondary source documents.
My Project
These resources will make a difference for our students as we continue to fully immerse ourselves into the digital sphere. With learning management systems (such as Schoology) being the sole platform for student communication— it is imperative that that communication is as streamlined as possible. Teachers Pay Teachers is the “go-to platform’ for educators to access digital content. These digital resources will benefit students by adding variety to our current social studies curriculum, adding new units of study, adding various types of Assessments, streamlining simplified Rubrics, and including more project based learning opportunities for for group work.
