My Students
"Too often we give children answers to remember rather than problems to solve." - Roger Lewin
My students are eager, energetic and very curious to learn about the world around them. They are five and six year old children who are just starting their school experience and very excited to be in "big school." Their abilities and needs range from just learning the English Language to being proficient readers and writers.
However, no matter their ability they all love to learn by "doing." We enjoy building, creating and playing every day to learn new skills.
My Project
My students need these 3 STEM kits, STEM journals and clear containers for our highly engaging learning space that will require my students to plan, create and test various concepts. Students are more engaged and tap into various parts of their brains when they are required to use a variety of skills to complete an activity. With these materials, my students will rotate through a variety of STEM centers and use their STEM journals to describe and explain their process of thinking to solve each stimulating kit. Students will work with partners to help a mouse make it through a maze, determine how to make a cart go faster, design a house that a wolf cannot blow down, create chain reactions and so much more. These innovative kits will be an excellent addition to our already existing science, technology, engineering and math curriculum.
By providing the needed tools for STEM learning, we are helping our students become problem solvers, critical thinkers and effective communicators.
Having the materials needed for engaging, hands-on learning would not be possible without your help. Thank you for helping to make learning fun in our classroom!
